Now when you think of Florida you think of sandy beaches, palm trees, and sunshine, right? Not farms, and bull riding, and tent camping. Well that's exactly what happens at the Westgate River Ranch! We made the trip for my boyfriend's work holiday/anniversary party. I meant to write about this sooner but I thought better late than never! Honestly, I was a little nervous when I heard ranch. I mean I rode horses back in the day and went camping in tents and wasn't afraid to get some dirt under my fingernails. But a Christmas party, let alone their 30th anniversary celebration....I was thinking fancy and not glamping. But glamping is exactly what we did! We arrived to a great big horse statue at the front greeting us after driving miles down what seemed to be an endless back road. I mean when you looked out either side of the car window you saw nothing but green fields. So we were definitely in the middle of nowhere! If you knew me in my younger days you know I was an animal loving, tent-camping girl. But today....well I still love animals but I'd definitely rather be in that hotel suite than in a tent! Thank god we had a beautiful room with running water and big flat screen TV to enjoy! I have to say, this place was AWESOME! There were horses and cattle at every glance, a little old "country town" for your basic food and gym needs. A local saloon for the adult crowd to drink and line dance at night. There was a petting zoo, which I did enjoy in my 4-inch Forever 21 heels! And there was an "adventure land" park for kids (and adults) with mini golf, rock climbing and more! Safe to say, we would never get bored! It's safe to say we had a pretty fun little break from the "Florida life" and appreciated the good ol' country.
