So I've officially been living in Los Angeles going on two weeks now and it's amazing!! The people, the vibes, the drive in everyone to succeed is incredible and everyone just feeds off of each other. Maybe it's an LA thing, but I think I'm feeling the good vibes already! Speaking of good vibes, there's definitely many of those coming from my six new roommates I'm living with this semester! Living with college students makes me feel more at home like living in my college town in Orlando. I got so lucky with this group of girls who, might I add, I found on Facebook! Besides the vibes, I've learned so much about the California lifestyle, so here's a few things I've kind of picked up on since I've been here (in my own opinion of course): 1. First and foremost, vibes are important and everyone's into them. 2. You have to pay for your grocery bags, paper and plastic. 3. California has a kind of "save the earth" mentality. 4. Tons of people are into juicing. Join a gym, buy some juice. That's the thing. 5. Driving around Los Angeles is ALMOST like New York City. Not quite as tight but everyone honks all the time, it's crazy! Now onto my internship!! I'm working at a television production company called Oops Doughnuts Productions (so cute right!?) and it's been nothing but enjoyable and fun! The office is filled from head to toe, inch to inch of television and film memorabilia. Everything from old Hollywood to new Hollywood, there's something from just about everything I think! As far as my daily tasks, they can include anything and everything! The first few days included reading scripts of their current and upcoming projects. I've never been much of a reader honestly (my parents would second that!) but I could read scripts for hours on end, which is exactly what I did! As interns we also help with general tasks such as organizing Andy Fickman's (one of the owner's) DVD collection, which contains probably thousands of DVDs might I add!! We have also been helping them pack and get ready to fly out to location for their newest film project! (Sorry can't give away any details but it's going to be AMAZING!) This week will be my third week interning so I can't wait to share with you (as much as I'm able to share) what other fun projects come up in the office! In my spare time I like to explore the city as much as I can! I went to Sunset Boulevard one night and visited the Saddle Ranch Restaurant & Bar which was pretty fun. They've got a mechanical bull that if you stay long enough you can watch all the people, who've had way to much to drink, try to stay on for longer than 2 seconds! Just a hint, they never do! I also visited Echo Park one night where I sat and did my homework for a bit. Without A/C at the house and Starbucks being a little too crowded, I'm glad I found this spot! It was quiet and scenic and the perfect spot to sit and catch up on some school work. I also got to sit in on a taping of the new talk show called the FabLife with Tyra Banks and Chrissy Teigen!! If you know me you know I'm OBSESSED with Chrissy Teigen so that was so exciting for me! There was a super special guest, but unfortunately I can't tell AND couldn't take pictures! But I can tell you the set is awesome and the show is even better! Definitely worth a watch, so look for me in the audience in the upcoming episodes!
This has just been a glimpse into my first few weeks out here and I can't wait to do and share more! I have plans to hike up to the Hollywood sign, go back to the Santa Monica Pier, visit Malibu and so much more! Thanks so much for reading! - Sammie Comments are closed.
